
The Nordic Research network on Special Needs Education in
Mathematics (NORSMA) was established in 2003 by professionals working
within the fields of mathematics and special needs education. The
network has held conferences every other year in the Nordic countries
focusing on research on teaching students with difficulties in learning
mathematics.
This fall it is Iceland’s turn to host the conference. The theme will be Challenges in teaching mathematics: Becoming special for all.
It will be hosted at the Universty of Iceland – School of Education in
Reykjavík. The dates are October 14th to 16th. The conference language
will be english.
Preconference workshops are scheduled on the 14th of October for teachers of all stages.
ANNOUNCEMENT #2
The main theme of the conference is Challenges in teaching mathematics:
Becoming special for all, which breaks into four central areas,
organised around the plenary lectures and sessions. These are: Creating
a learning environment, Teacher education, From theory to practice,
Becoming special.
Deadline for submission is June 30th 2009.
Proposals can be submitted only through the conference website. The
official language of the conference is English. All submissions will be
peer reviewed.
Notification for acceptance of the proposal will be August 15th 2009.
Proposal formats
Paper presentation: A paper session consists of 3 papers.
Each presentation lasts 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for questions and
discussion.
Poster presentation: presenters will be allocated time to introduce their posters.
